Title Race: Latest Updates & Analysis

Today is a day of interest in the title race. Celtic can sit back and watch results unfold at Dens Park and Pittodrie, safe in the knowledge that they have done their own job yesterday. If results go our way then we make inroads towards the top, if not then we know we are no worse off than earlier this week, bar one more game being ticked off the list.

As it stands, Hearts are leading 1-0 at Dundee, with a goal through Claudio Braga. If things stay that way then they’ll restore their lead at the top to six points. However, Dundee have been very much in the game and there is still much to play for.

In terms of the match at Pittodrie this afternoon, at 4.30, there is always spice in a contest between theRangers and Aberdeen. The visitors beat the Dons recently, but Aberdeen missed three clear cut chances.

Make no mistake, both Hearts and theRangers are likely to win their matches and will be expecting to do so. But the presence of Martin O’Neill in the Celtic dugout and an emphatic victory yesterday does change the dynamic a little. It’s that strong form for Celtic that can put pressure on others in the title race and then it is much more difficult to win games, when you don’t have the luxury of a large points cushion or flailing challengers dropping points regularly. We already saw the impact of this when Martin was last at the helm.

Hopefully things go our way in at least one of the matches today and we can look to push on from there.
