Ivory Coast will find a familiar face in the center of the field. The referee chosen to officiate during the Elephants’ quarter-final at CAN 2025 against Egypt, this Saturday (8 p.m.), is the Algerian Mustapha Ghorbal, who has already been on the whistle for the Ivorians in the group stage.
The Algerian will in fact lead his second meeting in this CAN, after Ivory Coast-Cameroon on December 28 (1-1). An experienced referee on the African continent, Ghrobal has already crossed paths with the Elephants three times in the CAN (in 2019, 2024 and 2025). On the other hand, he will referee Egypt for the very first time in this context.

Already on the cusp of a quarter-final in 2019 and 2024, Ghorbal is once again called upon at this stage of the competition, beyond which he has never gone.
This Saturday, he will be assisted by his compatriots Abbes Akram Zerghouni and Adel Abane, as well as by the Djiboutian Lebanon Abdourazak Ahmed. The fourth referee will be the Congolese Jean-Jacques Ngambou Ndala. At the VAR, we will find the Algerian Lahlou Benbraham, the Tunisian Khalil Hassani and the Sudanese Abdalaziz Yasir Ahmed Abdalaziz.
