Sašo Filipowski, coach of Würzburg: “We didn’t play as well defensively as we should have played. That was the main problem. Their three players played over 35 minutes, but we still couldn’t show our defensive skills. It’s a two-game winning streak, we’re down 0-1. Now the Lions have home-court advantage and our goal will be to come back here. We’ll try to play better than we did now. We knew McGill was the scorer, their best player and the driving force of the team. We rotated our best defenders on him, but we didn’t succeed in that direction.”
Brae Ivey, Würzburg player: “We have to do a better job. We didn’t play the way they did. They were tougher than us, we couldn’t stop them. We’re a team that prides itself on defense. The Lions are a solid team, they came out with intensity and we tried to match them. We won the second and third quarters, but we struggled in the first.”
Michal Madzin, Levíc coach: “I’m extremely proud of the guys, how they fought and played with heart. It was amazing to watch. Like Rickey said, we need one more win. We have to be ready for Thursday. The game is already sold out, it will be a great atmosphere with our great fans. But at the same time, we expect a lot of energy from Würzburg, we need to prepare for that.”
Rickey McGill, Lions player: “A good win. Now we have to prepare for Thursday, that’s what’s going through my mind now. We’re going back to Bratislava after a good win and we’ll try to finish the job. In the fourth quarter, the guys told me to shoot and I did well. That’s what I did and it worked.”
