U15 Badminton: Post SV Salzburg Wins Championship in Piding

A cooperation between the Salzburg Badminton Association and ASV Piding enables the town, which is located directly on the border with Austria, to take part in junior ranking tournaments as well as team championships. Most recently, the final round of the U15 team championship took place in Piding, which Post SV Salzburg decided in its favor.

The mode has been modified to allow for the largest possible number of teams. A team consisted of at least two boys and two girls. The disciplines per competition were boys’ doubles, girls’ doubles, mixed, boys’ singles and girls’ singles. In addition, the age group was set at U15 – here too with the aim of achieving a broad field of participants.

Five teams from the clubs Union Walserfeld, Post SV Salzburg, BMC Seekirchen and two teams from the host Piding (Staufen and Zwiesel) took part. In the first round, the Pidingen teams met each other and Walserfeld met Seekirchen. Both Piding Zwiesel and the BMC won 4:1.

There was nothing to gain for the hosts in the second round

There was nothing to gain for the hosts in round two, where they had to admit defeat to Salzburg and Walserfeld. The next round was more exciting. The decision between Salzburg and Seekirchen was only made in the mixed doubles. This was also extremely close and went to Post SV with 21:17 and 21:18. This meant that in the end it was 3:2 for the Mozartstadt team.

The encounter between Piding Zwiesel and Walserfeld was even closer. Timo Wischmann and Dominik Duxner as well as Johanna Baumgartner and Emma Klein decided both doubles in their favor in three sets each. Klein secured victory for Piding in the girls’ singles.

On paper, the fourth round games looked very clear. Piding Staufen lost 0:5 against Salzburg. Piding Zwiesel demanded more from the Seekirchners than they would have liked. All the games were extremely close, and the Flachgauer team almost stumbled. The 1:4 from the host’s perspective was clear, but it came about happily.

Mozartstadt residents push Seekirchen out of first place

The final round five decided who won the tournament. Salzburg had to play against Walserfeld here. It was clear: a victory for Post SV would push the BMC out of first place. After back and forth, the decision was only made in the mixed doubles. This clearly went to the people of Mozartstadt, who made the overall triumph perfect.

Final score: 1. Post SV Salzburg, 2. BMC Seekirchen, 3. ASV Piding Zwiesel, 4. Union Walserfeld, 5. ASV Piding Staufen.
