Slovak football defender Denis Vavro, who filled the media pages during Christmas by slapping a 17-year-old opponent in the face at a Christmas indoor tournament, is reportedly considering leaving the German VfL Wolfsburg.

Slovak representative Denis Vavro lost his place in Wolfsburg’s starting line-up during the autumn.
The national defender’s first half of the season was marred by a muscle injury, and he lost his place in Wolfsburg’s starting line-up upon his return. In the last league match last year on December 20 against Freiburg (3:4), he was not even part of the squad.
Therefore, according to information from the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, Vavro is considering his future in Wolfsburg in connection with the low match workload and the upcoming tie for promotion to the World Cup against Kosovo.

According to the aforementioned newspaper, Vavr’s transfer to the Italian Serie A could take place, where the 29-year-old defender previously worked for Lazio Rome.
Two big Italian clubs, AS Rome and Fiorentina, are reportedly interested in Vavro, and the Slovak’s price should be around seven million euros.
He transferred to Wolfsburg in January 2025 from FC Copenhagen for two million euros, while he spent half a year before that on loan at the Bundesliga club. He played a total of 37 matches in the VfL team.
