National team goalkeeper Viktor Johansson has a shoulder injury and missed Stoke’s away game against Hull on New Year’s Day.
It doesn’t look good. “It looks like he probably needs surgery,” Stokes manager Mark Robins said.
With just under three months until Sweden’s playoff for the World Cup, against Ukraine in Valencia on March 26, Blågult has suffered another injury blow.
Viktor Johansson injured his shoulder against Sheffield United on Monday and therefore did not play against Hull in the Championship on New Year’s Day. In an interview with the newspaper Stoke Sentinel, which Aftonbladet has taken part in, Stoke’s coach Mark Robins says that it is leaning towards an operation for the 27-year-old goalkeeper.
So he will be gone for a while, says Robins.
He is a great guy and a top goalkeeper. We just have to try to deal with it as best we can and support him to come back as soon as possible. There is quite a difference between the earliest and the latest he can be back, so of course we pray for the former.
The national team’s injury list already includes, not least, offensive star duo Dejan Kulusevski and Alexander Isak.
