Arlbrandt changes Linköping to the Swiss league…
Pär Arlbrandt, 43, is from the turn of the year a new assistant coach in the Swiss league team SCL Tigers from Langnau, currently in ninth place in the National League. Arlbrandt was previously an assistant coach in Linköping. The Tigers also have HV veteran André Pettersson, 35, who recently extended his contract by one year.
… where goalkeeper Victor Östlund takes a big step up
After eight very stable years at La-Chaux-De-Fonds in the Swiss second division, AIK-raised goalkeeper Victor Östlund, 31, is moving up to the top league and Biel-Bienne, just in eleventh place. Victor Östlund is the son of Djurgården and Tre Kronor goalkeeper Thomas Östlund.

Henrik Marklund unique Swede in the Hungarian league
Henrik Marklund in DVTK Jegesmedvék from Miskolc is the only Swede in the Hungarian top league Erste Liga. The 31-year-old forward, brought up in hockey in SK Lejon in Skellefteå, played eight games for Skellefteå in the SHL in 2013-14 and has made his way to Hungary via Hudiksvall and Allsvenska Östersund. Marklund has scored 15 points (5+10) in 24 games. The league consists of nine teams, five from Hungary and four from Romania. Jegesmedvék (Polar Bears) is currently in fifth place. Romanian Corona Brasov, coached by Briton Matthew Myers who played 25 years in the British league, tops the table.
Large crowd when the women’s league PWHL plays
While the Swedish SDHL draws attendance figures of at best a couple of hundred people, the North American women’s league PWHL continues to be a crowd success. In the league’s take-over tour, where the teams play in locations that do not yet have a women’s team, the New York Sirens won 4-3 over the Seattle Torrent at the American Airlines Center in Dallas in front of 8,514 spectators. At Rogers Place in Edmonton, 10,264 spectators watched the Minnesota Frost defeat the Vancouver Goldeneyes 2-1. And in a “regular” league game at the Bell Center in Montreal, the Toronto Scepters beat the Montreal Victoire in front of 18,107 spectators. Anna Kjellbin played until one of Toronto’s goals.
Djurgården-Örebro, Luleå-Löven in the semi in the U20 cup…
Djurgården against Örebro and Luleå against Björklöven. This is how the semi-finals in the Swedish U20 Cup will be played on Sunday, January 4. The final and the bronze match will be played in Örebro on Monday.
Malmö, who qualified for the semi-finals, withdrew from the U20 Cup for financial reasons, as did Mora even before the tournament started. The bid to play in the semi-finals then went to the best group runner-up, Björklöven. That in the tournament that was created to give the players in the U20 age more meaningful matches. The tournament began with a geographically structured group game. Luleå (nine points) won group A, ahead of Björklöven (8). Örebro (6) won group B while Djurgården (9) took home group C and Malmö group D (11 points).

Rasmus Becker and Gustav Andersson Öberg dominate the scoring statistics in the U20 Cup. The two Löven forwards have scored ten (2+8) and nine points (4+5) respectively and top the cup’s scorers. Third on eight points (3+5) is Linköping’s Oscar Emwall, and if the name is familiar, it is because father Fredrik played nearly 600 games for Linköping in the SHL and 43 international matches with Tre Kronor.
