It’s January 1st: the transfer window is officially open. And the first departure is known: Antonio Cordero is already leaving Westerlo.
He arrived surrounded by real expectations and could have been one of the revelations of the season in the Jupiler Pro League, but Antonio Cordero (19 years old) is already leaving our championship, six months after his arrival and from the first day of the winter transfer window.
Last summer, Cordero left Malaga for Newcastle United, who then loaned him to KVC Westerlo. Spanish U19 international, the left winger was a promising reinforcement for the Campinois, but was not really a top-notch reinforcement.
Cordero loaned to Cadiz
After seven appearances without scoring or giving the slightest assist, Antonio Cordero is already leaving Westerlo. His loan was terminated by the Campinois and Newcastle immediately loaned him out again, this time to Cadiz.
There, the Spaniard will be able to find his feet again: in the Spanish second division with Malaga, Antonio Cordero played 39 matches, scored 6 goals and delivered 7 assists.
The now ex-Campinois was also a confirmed Spanish U19 international, who played 17 matches and scored 4 goals. He notably distinguished himself during the Euro U19 last June.
