Modric: Mourinho Made Ronaldo Cry at Real Madrid – The Reason

Legend of Real Madrid and currently in Milan, Luka Modric gave a strong report about living with Cristiano Ronaldo at the Spanish club. And he revealed that he saw the Portuguese star even cry – and because of Jose Mourinho.

In an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Serathe Croatian midfielder recalled Mourinho’s strict profile during his time at the Santiago Bernabéu. And that a charge made by the coach brought Cristiano Ronaldo to tears in the locker room.

According to Modric, the Portuguese star’s reaction came right after a strong charge made by the Special One because Cristiano did not return to mark the full-back on the field.

“I saw him (Mourinho) make Cristiano Ronaldo cry in the dressing room, a man who gives himself completely on the pitch, because, for once, he didn’t mark the opposing full-back. Mourinho is very direct with the players, but he is honest”, declared the Croatian.

The veteran also called Mourinho the “toughest” coach he had and recalled that he was the one who got him out of the game. Tottenham and took him to Real Madrid.

“He was the one who wanted me at Real Madrid. Without Mourinho, I would never have made it. I regret having to work with him for just one season.”

Mourinho arrived at Real Madrid in 2010 and stayed at the Spanish club until 2013winning three titles, including one LALIGA (2011/12). Currently, Portuguese is in Benfica.
