Anyone who has exercise and sport on their list of good intentions can count on the Sports Service. It is once again launching Sportelmix, a monthly sports offer especially for people over 50. The initiative kicks off in January and will run throughout the year.
Try out different sports at fixed times
Every third Monday of the month, participants can choose from four or five different sports. The sessions take place in the afternoon, with two time blocks: from 1:30 PM to 3 PM and from 3:30 PM to 5 PM. What is new is that there will also be an evening session from 5:30 PM to 7 PM. This extra time slot makes it possible for people over 50 who are still professionally active to participate.
January program combines indoor and outdoor sports
On Monday, January 19, sports enthusiasts can get started with petanque in the Boulodrome or BBB in the Laguna sports hall. Those who come later can choose between badminton in the Laguna sports hall or aqua senior in Sportoase. The evening session focuses on badminton.
February brings archery and table tennis
The second edition will take place on Monday, February 9. Then krulbol in the Sint-Joris is on the program, combined with drums alive in the Stormmeeuw sports hall. Later that afternoon, participants can go for archery in the Burgemeester Graaf Leopold Lippenspark or table tennis in the Stormmeeuw sports hall. Table tennis is also provided in the evening.
Pay on site with discount via sportelkaart
Registration is done directly at the location. Participants pay three euros in cash per session. Anyone who has a sports card only pays two euros. That card is available in the Stormmeeuw sports hall. The full annual program with all dates and locations is online.
Moving together remains the central message of the initiative. The formula remains unchanged: an accessible introduction to different sports in a group atmosphere.
