Six months ago, it seemed Semenyo was going nowhere. The 25-year-old signed a five-year contract with Bournemouth until 2030 and gave positive reviews of the club.
After signing his new contract, he said: “I’ve developed a lot at this club, both on and off the pitch, and I’m really pleased to have signed before returning for pre-season. From the fans to the staff and my team-mates, I couldn’t say more highly of the people around this club. It’s a great place to be and I’m excited to return to Bournemouth and continue the hard work with the new season just around the corner.”
Bournemouth’s president of football operations, Tiago Pinto, added that Semenyo had been “crucial” to the club’s progress on the south coast and was a “key member” of the ongoing project.
He said: “We have a great relationship with Antoine and we hope to continue that as we look to build on a record-setting season. His commitment to the club is in line with our ambitions and I’m excited to see what can be achieved as we prepare for the new campaign.”
Entering the end of December, and things seem to have changed significantly.
