For the fourth time in a row this season, FC Montreuil (R1) will play its Coupe de France match at the Auguste-Delaune stadium in Bobigny. After FC Bandrélé (R1), representative of Mayotte in the 7th round, Granville (N2) in the 8th round, Chauvigny (N3) in the 32nd finals, it will be the turn of SC Amiens (14th in L2) to travel to the prefecture of Seine-Saint-Denis to face FC Montreuil in the 16th finals on Saturday January 10 at 3:30 p.m.
A satisfaction for the only R1 club still competing in the competition (with Bayeux). However, everything has not been easy to organize this meeting since the victory against Chauvigny (2-1) nine days ago.
Even if it is approved (T2), the Auguste-Delaune stadium was not sure of being validated by the French federation to host a round of 16. The body preferred to hold the match at the Bauer stadium, home of Red Star (L2), which hosted the 32nd final of the Coupe de France last year between JA Drancy (N3) and Nantes (0-4).
Bauer stadium rental price too high
The rental turned out to be far too expensive for the amateur club which feared not filling up at Bauer (4,600 places). “We want to play this meeting in our department to have another great celebration,” insisted Abdoulaye Sow, the president of FC Montreuil after the qualification against Chauvigny.
The leaders, supported by certain politicians from Seine-Saint-Denis, then pushed hard to convince the FFF to be able to organize this round of 16 at the Auguste-Delaune stadium in Bobigny, indicating that the venue last season hosted a Bobigny (N2)-Red Star (L2) in the 8th round then a Bobigny-Angers (L1) in the 32nd finals without experiencing any security problems. An argument which finally convinced the FFF.
It now remains to find a date for the meeting of the 14th day of group C of N2 between FC Bobigny 93 and Rumilly-Vallières which was to take place at the Delaune stadium the same day at 6 p.m. The match could take place on Friday January 9 or Sunday January 11.
