SAN JOSE – Slovak hockey player Pavol Regenda is returning to the first team of the San Jose Sharks.

The management of the NHL club called him up from the farm team San Jose Barracuda (AHL) on Tuesday after forward Adam Gaudette suffered a lower body injury. A spot on the Sharks’ roster became available last week after Ethan Cardwell was moved to the farm.

The Slovakian winger could start for the Sharks on Wednesday at home against Minnesota if Gaudette is unable to play. According to overseas media, the start of the American center is questionable. Twenty-six-year-old Regenda already played two games for the Sharks in the beginning of December in the current season, scoring two goals in them.

First, he scored in his pro league debut this season in a 6-3 win over Utah when he made a power play. He also scored a goal two days later, when he corrected San Jose’s 1:7 loss against Washington again with a numerical advantage.

However, the Slovak representative played most of the season on the farm in the AHL. In the San Jose Barracuda team, he played 28 games in which he collected four goals and eight assists. He has been working in the Sharks organization since January 2025, when the club acquired him from the California competitor from Anaheim. The San Jose Sharks PR department informed about it on the X social network.
