The Saint-Girons badminton club has just organized, at the Buffelan gymnasium, the first Valier Tournament, an official competition dedicated to young players from the region. The event brought together no less than fifty players from different clubs in Occitanie: Castanet, Castelnaudary, Saint-Gaudens, Pamiers, Foix and Ramonville.
Divided into men’s singles and women’s singles, the young competitors put on a quality show. Throughout the day, more than eighty matches took place in a friendly atmosphere, under the encouragement of families and volunteers mobilized for the occasion.
During the awards ceremony, President Laurent Sutra expressed his satisfaction: “I am delighted with the involvement of our young people, our volunteers and the other clubs who played the game. It is a great success for the club and a real showcase for badminton in Couserans. Over the years, we will build on the success of this first edition to establish the Valier Tournament as an important event in the youth competition calendar.”
The tournament results. Junior men’s singles: victory for Étann Faure against Léo Le Tutour (both from the Saint-Girons club). Men’s singles: Elouan Mure (Saint-Gaudens) wins against Tiago François-Brazier (Saint-Girons). Cadet men’s singles: Luno-Bares Roméo (Castanet) wins over Titouan Pagès (Castelnaudary). Women’s singles: victory for Élise Sutra (Saint-Girons) against Lüna Baille-Ricard (Pamiers). Junior ladies singles: Noa Naudet (Foix) wins against Clotilde Aufaure (Foix)
The Saint-Girons badminton club now has 90 members. It welcomes a wide variety of participants: young people, adults, ladies, men, competitors or leisure enthusiasts. The atmosphere is friendly and dynamic.
