Carolina Marín leave social media. The best badminton player in the history of Spain announced this Saturday that she has “collapsed“and that he is not at his best, which has led him to “remove” social networks from his daily life to be able to “isolate and be happy”.
The terrifying injury in Paris…
The 32-year-old player has been injured since suffering a cruciate fracture of his right knee in the semifinals of the Paris Olympic Games in August 2024. A very hard setback that is added to other recent injuries and very serious that the Huelva native has experienced on her right knee. Her present and future in badminton is unknown, something that she herself acknowledged shortly after being injured in Paris: “I am devastated, I don’t know if I will play again“.
“I have collapsed, I am not at my best and I need to be happy, that is why I want to isolate myself from social networks”
Now, almost a year and a half later and in the middle of the rehabilitation process, Marín has acknowledged that he is not at his best and that as a consequence he needs to leave social networks: “As a result of the last few months I have collapsed and I really need isolate myself a little bit of social media, think about me. I have to say that I’m not at my best. I want to be happy and for that I have to find happiness in many things,” said the Olympic medalist in Rio 2016.
In the publication she shared on her Instagram, “naturally, in pajamas and with my tea”, Carolina thanked her followers for their support and admitted feeling overwhelmed by the good reception of her latest video: “And I have to tell you that I was very surprised by the reaction you have had regarding the last video I uploaded. I think it is also important to sometimes show a little bit of that part that we want to hide… Society also goes through many of these situations.“.
“You won’t see me here”
A message from the badminton champion also appears in the video: “This Christmas you won’t see me here. You know that It has been difficult for me to get to the end of the year and I need to recharge the battery in many ways. I wish you all the good things possible to end 2025 and an even better start to 2026. “We will see each other in a few days with more strength and desire to continue telling stories.”
Carolina, 32 years old, is a gold medalist at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, being the only non-asian player in winning that women’s singles title; it is also three-time world champion (2014, 2015 y 2018); eight-time European champion in singles since 2014 (including titles in 2021, 2022 and 2024) and champion of the European Games in Krakow 2023.
