Jordi Cruijff at Ajax: Impact on Key Player?

The arrival of Jordi Cruijff could have major negative consequences within the management of Ajax. In an analysis in the AD Football podcast journalist Johan Inan expresses the suspicion that Marijn Beuker’s days may be numbered when Cruijff steps in.

“What you hear within the club is that Cruijff is in pole position and that it is secretly assumed that he will come,” Inan begins. “Yet the Cruijffs always have the feeling that something will come along the way somewhere and it will not go ahead. That is the only reason why I see it falling through.”

Beuker, director of football, who was tackled harshly in recent weeks by Valentijn Driessen in De Telegraaf, among others, could become a victim of Cruijff’s appointment.

“It is not my opinion or judgment that I think Marijn Beuker could die, but you know how it works,” Inan continues.

“Kroes will soon be gone and we have already described how Menno Geelen remains out of the media spotlight. If Cruijff becomes technical director, you can determine who will be shot at,” the journalist refers to Beuker.

Driessen was previously hard on Beuker. The journalist illustrated that ‘everyone within Ajax’ must follow the ideology of the director, ‘otherwise you run the risk of being fired’. There is also a lot of criticism of the alleged narcissistic attitude of the football director.

“Menno Geelen must take his turn in his responsibility in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. He can no longer tolerate director of football affairs Beuker in his management team at Ajax, now that he appears to be a fantasist,” Driessen said, among other things.
