BC Smashing: Season Finale Loss

The badminton players of BC Smashing enter the winter break in seventh place in the premier league. The last match this year, at home against Drop Shot, was lost 5-3. This means that the people of Wijchen are 5 points apart from the last number BCH.

After beating competitor Roosterse BC 5-3 at home a week earlier, Smashing, back at home, lost with the same figures against the strong Drop Shot.

First points

Freek Golinski and Marijn Put took the first points in the men’s doubles against Noah Jonge and Timo Stoffelen: 21-18, 21-11. There was a loss among the women: Inger pothuizen and Sterre Bang did not make it against Iris van Leijsen and Kelly van Buiten: 18-21, 14-21.

Undercut

Put put the Wijchen badminton players back in the lead by beating Lars Kros 16-21, 21-15 and 21-9. Jonah Quitens had to leave the points in 2 sets to Nick Fransman who proved too strong with 21-11 and 21-14.

In the first women’s singles match, Maureen Zewald lost against Novi Wieland (15-21, 17-21) and Leonie Rovers also remained scoreless against Natalia Perminova: 19-21, 9-21.

Cheer

Golinski and Pothuizen made the home fans cheer again with their victory over Stoffelen and Van Leijsen. After losing the first set (17-21), they put things in order and won twice 21-12.

In the last mixed doubles match, Vincent de Vries and Bang could not break any ground: 19-21, 15-21.

Stand

The ninth game in the competition ended in a 5-3 defeat for Smashing. The competition will resume on Sunday, January 11, when the Wijchen residents visit Almere. Fit is currently second in the Premier League.
