The Rockets could give themselves a nice Christmas present. Dorian Finney-Smith is finally getting closer to his debut with Houston, during “Christmas Day” on the floor of the Lakers, his former team. Absent since the restart, the strong winger is in fact considered “uncertain” for this poster, a sign that his return is imminent…
Arriving last summer with a four-year contract ($52.7 million), the veteran has still not played a single minute in his new colors. The reason? An ankle intervention during the offseason, followed by progressive rehabilitation. In Houston, he is expected to bring outside shooting, defensive toughness and his “3&D” profile capable of integrating into the group without monopolizing the ball.
Irony of the calendar, if his debut takes place in Los Angeles, Dorian Finney-Smith will therefore make his return… against a team that he knows very well.
He had in fact finished last season with the Lakers, after being transferred there from Brooklyn. A first match in the form of a wink, and perhaps the first step towards an important role in Ime Udoka’s rotation.
