After months of being forgotten, Divock Origi’s ordeal at AC Milan has come to an end. His contract was terminated by mutual agreement on Tuesday. So at the age of 30 he has to look for a new adventure. Will he soon start working in the Jupiler Pro League?
In the spring of 2014, then national coach Marc Wilmots surprised friend and foe by including Origi in his World Cup selection. The attacker had just arrived at Lille OSC. But that move turned out well. Origi scored some important goals for the Red Devils. And in the meantime he also secured a top transfer to Liverpool FC. A new Belgian star seemed to be born.

But that turned out differently. Origi provided some memorable moments at Anfield, most notably his goal after a quick corner in the legendary comeback against FC Barcelona. But a permanent starting position was never an option for him. When his contract expired in 2022, he was allowed to leave on a free transfer. It was AC Milan that offered him a new challenge.
Origi signed for four seasons at San Siro with an annual salary of around 4 million euros. But that transfer turned out to be a real disaster. The attacker never really came into his own at the Italian top club. A loan to Nottingham Forrest brought little relief. He has not even played a single official match since the spring of 2024. The contract termination was therefore logical.
Move to JPL
And so, at the age of 30, Origi can relaunch his career elsewhere as a transfer free player. Bee The Last Hour a more ‘exotic’ competition such as the MLS or Saudi Pro League is put forward. A new European top club seems to be out of the question, but a new start with a smaller European team is not ruled out in advance.
And a move to the Jupiler Pro League? The Walloon medium certainly does not rule this out and emphasizes that his agent Willem Ofori-Appiah has good contacts at Belgian clubs.
