Spartak vs Zenit: New Year’s Football Rivalry

“The pride of Russian football!” Spartak teased Zenit in a New Year’s video

Moscow “Spartak” published a creative New Year’s video called “A world without Spartak.” In it, the press service of the red and white team teased Zenit. One of the frames shows a billboard depicting Brazilian blue-white-blue players. The shield also says: “The People’s Team. The pride of Russian football!”

Let us note that in the current RPL season, only one Spartak goal was scored by a Russian football player – a native of St. Petersburg, Igor Dmitriev, who is a graduate of Zenit and the son of former blue-white-blue player Sergei Dmitriev.

“Spartak” ranks sixth in the World Russian Premier League standings for the 2025/2026 season. The team scored 29 points in 18 matches. On the first line is Krasnodar, which earned 40 points for the same number of games. The championship will resume after the winter break on February 27.
