Under the unified format of All Against All and the participation of 13 teams from different regions of the country, the new season of the Professional Basketball Super League (SPB) 2026 will be officially inaugurated on March 7. It was also reduced to 4 imported reinforcements per team during the tournament, as agreed during the General Assembly of the teams that make life in the league tournament.
For this new edition of the Professional Basketball Super League, the teams that will take part are Gaiteros del Zulia, champion, who managed to be crowned after 24 years without having achieved the throne, Trotamundos de Carabobo, runner-up 2025, Cocodrilos de Caracas, Marinos de Anzoátegui, PIratas de La Guaira, Panteras de Miranda, Guaiqueríes de Margarita, Brillantes del Zulia, Spartans Distrito Capital, Pioneros del Ávila, Héroes de Falcón, Frontinos del Táchira and Diablos de Miranda, back in the league. The Toros de Aragua team will not participate on this occasion, because its managers decided not to do so “to adjust the team.”
Each team will play 24 matches
In this new edition, the regular round was restructured under the round-robin format, and not like in the last campaign, which was played by geographical conferences. On this occasion, each team will play a total of 24 matches, of which 12 will be played as hosts and the others as visitors.
The qualification for the postseason also underwent a structural change in order to increase competitiveness in the decisive stages, since the first round of the “Play In” playoffs, to which the eight (8) best teams in the general table will be promoted.
In this second round of the elimination phase there will be four keys, in which the first against the eighth, the second against the seventh, the third against the sixth and the fourth against the fifth will face each other. Each series will be played with a maximum of seven games to win 4. The four winners in the “Play In” will go to the semifinals, which will also be the best game system and will be measured in the same order as how they finished in the regular round.

The Grand Final will be played under the same seven-game, win-four format and will begin at the home of the best team placed in the regular round.
Regarding the quota of imported reinforcements, there will now be four, and not five like last season, with the right to three foreigners on the court throughout the tournament. Each team will have a maximum of 10 imported players in its total roster.
