The Real Madrid basketball coach, Sergio Scariolo, has described the AS Monaco players as “a core of great quality and great efficiency”, on the eve of Madrid and Monegasque facing each other during matchday 18 of the regular phase of the Euroleague.
“They have a core of great quality and great efficiency, not only in attacks but also in defense, who have been playing together for years and have come close to winning the Euroleague last year. They have been able to add a top player like Nikola Mirotic and two players with great experience and efficiency like Nedovic and Theis,” Scariolo declared to Realmadrid TV.
“The team has trained well. We have some physical problems, which at this point in the season is normal, but in general the condition is quite good and I hope that the awareness that we are going to play against the runners-up of the Euroleague is also good,” the Italian coach of Real Madrid insisted this Thursday.
“Evidently we are talking about the highest level of competition that you can face and that is why we have to have a lot of discipline, a lot of concentration, a lot of patience, a lot of ability to withstand frustration because it is a team that can perfectly score difficult baskets at the end of your good defense,” he warned in this regard.
Then he added that “they are a team that can prevent you from scoring for three, four or five possessions in a row.” “I think that if we are mentally capable of being in the game, of being focused, of really being without losing confidence in our possibilities and we can bring it to an even finish, we can also have a chance of winning on one of the most complicated fields that exist today,” he concluded.
