In an interview with the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” he looked back on his first experiences abroad. “I’m currently experiencing a cool phase in my life. I feel extremely comfortable so far. His contract with the Whitcaps runs until the end of 2026. Müller did not reveal what he plans to do after that. “I love being an athlete,” said Müller. He wants to continue to “focus on the Sport Only then will he decide what to do next. He doesn’t want “a wishy-washy transition.”
But playing football, the experience in the stadium, is the “greatest thing”. “Life doesn’t get any more intense than this. I’ve never met a former professional footballer who said: “It’s a lot hotter at the desk now!” Müller sees his role in the new team as “an extended arm of the coach”. He joked that he wanted to pass on his “learned wisdom every five minutes” to his teammates.
Müller raved about final opponent Lionel Messi: “He is unique, irreplaceable and, as I see it, the best!”. Müller also commented on the failed move of national player Florian Wirtz. He believes that Wirtz “has it with them Bayern “It would definitely have been easier for us to adapt to football.”
Big praise from Thomas Müller for Vincent Kompany
Müller found great praise for the current Bayern coach, Vincent Kompanyunder whom he played last season. His man-marking tactics are not “new”, “but the consistency with which Bayern play it is interesting: “Vinny doesn’t leave much room for physical underperformance or negligence.”
When asked about his visit to FC Bayern’s stadium in the last game against Mainz 05, Müller emphasized that leaving Bayern after 25 years was entirely in the “romantic spirit”. “We parted on good terms.”
In the stands, Müller sat between sports director Max Eberl and supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, which immediately sparked speculation along the lines of: There was already a new Bayern official sitting there. Müller said: “Hey, people have been saying that for three years anyway, regardless of whether I’m sitting there or not. Let them just say it!”
