Endrick already has a new destiny. The Brazilian forward is leaving on loan to Olympique Lyon until the end of the season, as confirmed by Real Madrid this Tuesday, through a statement that made official what had been an open secret for a few weeks.
The attacker trained at Palmeiras thus manages to unblock an entrenched situation this season, since the arrival of Xabi Alonso to the Madrid bench. Just 99 minutes of play spread over three games – against Manchester City in the Champions League, against Valencia in the League and against the modest Talavera in the Copa del Rey -, without goals or assists, complete the entire baggage this season of a player who arrived in Chamartín in June 2024, as one of the great promises of world football.
The outlay of 47.5 million euros for a recently turned 18-year-old footballer seemed to bear its first fruits with a creditable initial campaign, in which the Brazilian played 37 games and scored seven goals in all competitions, especially the five in a Copa del Rey in which he played an outstanding role in Madrid’s path to the La Cartuja final.
However, the presence of Mbappé, Vinicius and even Rodrygo, together with the arrival of more competition with the promotion to the first team of the youth squad Gonzalo and the signing of another young man with future prospects like Mastantuono, have definitively closed the doors of the white eleven to Endrick, who began the season injured, a handicap due to a problem in the joint tendon of the hamstrings of his right leg.
No purchase option
However, Real Madrid still trusts in the progression of the attacker, who hopes to have much more presence in his new team to try to convince Carlo Ancelotti, his former coach at Real Madrid, to include him in Brazil’s list for the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Lyon, which does not have a purchase clause, is currently fifth in French Ligue 1, far from the lead.
