Papszun Suspends Loan: First Decision Revealed

Marek Papszun was presented as the coach of Legia Warszawa on December 19. This happened already during the winter break, so it will be just over a month before he will lead his new team in an official match for the first time. The “Military” will return to play in the PKO Ekstraklasa on February 1, when they will play against Korona Kielce.

Papszun therefore has some time to implement the new order in Legia. Paweł Gołaszewski, a journalist of the weekly “Piłka Nożna”, said that the 51-year-old coach had planned a certain change in the context of the club’s January training camp. Contrary to initial plans, 18-year-old Jan Leszczyński is also expected to take part.

The young central defender has so far only played in Legia’s third league reserves and youth team. In the winter, it was planned to loan him to Betclic 1. Liga to try to play more regularly. Papszun, however, has other plans for him.

– For now, it has been decided that Janek Leszczyński is going to the camp with Legia, and his loan to Pogoń Grodzisk Mazowiecki is suspended – Gołaszewski said on the Meczyki channel.

Let us add that Papszun took over a team that was in deep crisis. Legia has already been eliminated from the Conference League and the Polish Cup. It is also doing badly in the Ekstraklasa, where it ranks penultimate, 17th in the table. He will therefore spend the winter break in the relegation zone.
