Boris Becker’s public statements about Alexander Zverev continue to cause dissatisfaction in the team ranked third in the world rankings. Brother Mischa Zverev thinks she is “not very helpful”.

With statements like “world leaders look different” or speculation about mental blockages, Boris Becker has not made any friends in Team Zverev in the last few weeks. Mischa even accused Becker of only wanting to do PR for its own sake.
You can’t ignore injuries
Mischa Zverev reacted particularly sharply to Becker’s assessment of his brother’s sporting achievements despite clear physical limitations. In the case of problems such as bone edema or an incipient stress fracture, advice from a distance is simply unnecessary. Anyone who is injured cannot consistently play at a top level. This even makes sense to his grandma, says Zverev.
2025 season balance
Accordingly, Mischa consciously brought his brother’s sporting record to the fore. Alexander Zverev struggled with physical complaints almost constantly in 2025 – sometimes milder, sometimes more severe. Given these circumstances, the season was anything but disappointing. After all, there would be third place in the world rankings, a Grand Slam final and the title at the BMW Open in Munich. In addition, Zverev was the only player in the field alongside Alcaraz and Sinner to have played in a Grand Slam final in 2025.
Fitness before fine-tuning
For the Zverev team, the path is therefore clearly defined. First of all, Alexander Zverev has to get completely healthy. Technical or tactical adjustments are of secondary importance as long as the body is not stable. Persistent physical insecurity inevitably affects self-confidence and the psyche. But if Alexander Zverev can physically act freely again, then the dream of a Grand Slam title is not an unrealistic scenario, Mischa firmly states.
