Stankovic Returns: Crvena zvezda Head Coach

The Belgrade club on Monday on the official site announced that Dejan Stankovic returned to the team’s bench after the previous head coach, Vladan Milojevics, said goodbye to the team on Sunday.

The 47-year-old coach took charge of Crvena zvezda for the first time in December 2019, with which he won three league titles and two Serbian Cups, as well as entering the Europa League twice, where he first reached the top 32 and then the round of 16. In 2022, he sat on the bench of Sampdoria, then in September 2023 he came to Ferencváros, with which he became champion and cup finalist, until he announced his departure the day after the final, as he was signed by Spartak Moscow.

In his first season, he led the Russian team to fourth place, but in November of this year, he parted ways with the club by mutual agreement after winning seven out of 15 matches in the current championship, losing four with Spartak, and was only in sixth place, eight points behind the leader FK Krasnodar. In addition, the fact that he received a red card several times because he got into a heated argument with the referees did not help his stay.

After 20 rounds, Crvena zvezda scored 45 points in the Serbian Super League, so they are second in the table, only one point behind the leader Partizan Beograd.
