The Puertollano Archery Club has closed the year with an outstanding performance in the XXVIII Christmas Championship, held this Sunday in Valdepeñas and organized by the Aljaba Club.
The test, already consolidated as one of the most traditional on the regional calendar, was held in an indoor facility, an environment that demands maximum technical precision, regularity and mental strength, by eliminating the influence of the wind and turning each arrow into an exercise in absolute concentration.
The club’s youth team once again took center stage thanks to Vega Nieto, who was proclaimed champion in the Benjamín Recurve Women’s category, confirming the excellent training work being carried out in Puertollano and its projection as one of the young promises of regional archery.
In the children’s category, Jara Nieto achieved first place in Women’s Recurve, expanding a record that already includes regional titles and outstanding classifications in higher level competitions. His performance once again reflected a notable sporting maturity despite his youth.
For her part, in the senior category, Marta Álvarez won first place in Women’s Recurve, consolidating a career marked by regularity and podiums in regional and interclub championships. His performance was especially outstanding in the decisive series, where the pressure in indoor competition is decisive.
In the longbow modality, Agustina Talavera was proclaimed champion in Senior Women, demonstrating once again her experience, temperance and technical mastery in a highly demanding discipline. Added to this result was José Antonio Izquierdo’s third place in Men’s Veteran Longbow, a reflection of his perseverance and his role as a reference for the club in this traditional modality.
Very positive balance
The participation of the Puertollano Archery Club in the Christmas Championship has once again placed the entity among the most prominent on the regional scene, combining high-level results, the projection of young talents and the experience of its most veteran archers.
The club wanted to thank the Aljaba Club for the excellent organization of the championship, as well as congratulate all the participating athletes for the high level exhibited. In a special way, congratulations go to the champions and medalists, whose results have allowed us to close the sporting year with a fully satisfactory balance for Puertollano archery.
