Rouyn-Noranda Games: 15 Disciplines to Watch

Around fifteen sporting disciplines are on the program for the 41st Centralized Regional Final of the Quebec Games.

The event will mainly be held on January 31 and February 1, in Rouyn-Noranda, as part of the city’s centennial.

Thus, the programming includes gymnastics, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, badminton, weightlifting, table tennis, bowling, judo, curling, figure skating and karate as official sports, in addition to ultimate frisbee, climbing, mini-volleyball and futsal (indoor soccer) in the component My First Gamesa sports initiation program aimed at children aged 6 to 12 who are not registered in competition networks or organized sport.

These young people come to take part in a competition, to see how it goes, they gain experience. Often, it draws them into disciplines that they may have never seen before. Lots of people

Around 1,200 young athletes from the four corners of Abitibi-Témiscamingue will be expected at this major regional sports festival, which will serve – in several disciplines – as qualifiers for the Provincial Final of the Quebec Games, which will take place in Blainville from February 27 to March 7.

Holding these regional Games, a first in Rouyn-Noranda since 2018, will also require the contribution of a veritable army of volunteers. We calculate that at least 300 will be needed distributed among the different competition areas.indicates Michel Morin.
