He solved the coaching question quite promptly. Luboš Jenáček, a prominent figure in local hockey, takes over Vsetín in the Max league after the dismissal of Daniel Babka, Michal Broš and Ondřej Němec continue as assistants. The Wallachians announced the agreement on their official website.
“We want to give the team the right impetus. At this stage of the season, we decided to engage Luboš Jenáček,” informs the club’s sports director Pavel Hanák.
“He is an experienced coach who knows the Vsetin environment very well, and both sides know what they can expect from each other,” explains Hanák. The implementation team of Vsetín therefore operated in provisional mode for only a few days: “With this step, our coaching staff is complete again and we believe that we will gradually climb the table to the positions we set before the start of the season.”
“This is an experienced coach who knows the Vsetin environment very well.”
Jenáček (53) has quite a rich history with the Wallachian: as a player, he experienced Vsetín’s promotion to the extra league, won two titles with him among the domestic elite, and was named rookie of the year for the 1994/95 season. He started as a coach in the local youth team and later stood on the substitutes’ side alongside Jiří Dopita when the club returned to the first league.
Their collaboration lasted three seasons, the next one was with Jan Srdínek. After the breakup in 2021, he was involved with a rival in Zlín, and from May 2023 he was in charge of junior club Slavia. Under his leadership, the red and whites bounced back to the extra league.

“I would like to thank Luboš for the great work he did at Slavia. In a very short time, he was able to create a great relationship with the coaching staff and the management, and we are not saying goodbye to him lightly. However, we understand his ambition to coach adult hockey, we also talked about this topic several times during his time with us. I believe that this was not our last collaboration and I wish him the best of luck,” said Stanislav Tichý on the hc-slavia.cz website for the management.
In Jenáček’s case, however, it is true that good pigeons return. “Now comes the return to Wallachia and the mission, the goal of which is to raise the Vsetin team in the ongoing season of the Max league,” adds the club optimistically.
Although one of the competition’s favorites did not get into a similar trouble as rival Zlín, its performance in the Maxa League so far is not exactly convincing – Vsetín frames the elite six and loses almost twenty points to the leader Slavia. He can bounce back from a valuable triumph from Wednesday’s derby (4:2).
