O College Football Brazil confirmed support for Touchdown do Bem Christmas Festivala social project that uses the flag football as an instrument for inclusion, education and development of children and adolescents in Belo Horizonte and the metropolitan region. The action marks the end of a year of growth for the initiative, which currently serves more than 450 young people.
The festival will be held at Campo do Chiqueirinho, in Vila Independência, in the Barreiro region. Inserted in the community itself, the space is the basis of the project’s activities and has established itself as a point of access to sport and encouraging social inclusion through American football without physical contact.
Created in 2019, Touchdown do Bem serves children and adolescents between 6 and 16 years old, distributed across six centers. In addition to sports, the project works on values such as discipline, respect, unity, friendship and a sense of belonging.
The activities are carried out through inclusive flag football training, a sport derived from American football, with mixed teams made up of boys and girls.
Other partnerships
The initiative also maintains educational partnerships. In conjunction with Unicesumar, the project offers scholarships for professional and undergraduate courses, as well as free weekly English classes online. Touchdown do Bem also has institutional support from Belo Horizonte City Hall.
Previously, the project was also part of the NFL’s ‘Nascidos Para Jogar’ documentary series, held during North American professional league games in Brazil.
Christmas Festival
The Christmas Festival will bring together all project hubs in a special tournament. The expectation is that around 200 athletes will participate in the activities on Saturday, with games, sporting activities and programming focused on community coexistence and the end of the year celebration.
College Football Brasil’s participation in the event reinforces the link between the development of American football at grassroots level and the expansion of the sport in the country.
For Bruno Guilherme, CEO of Sports Business and member of the project’s organizing committee, the support goes beyond sport. “Supporting Touchdown do Bem is recognizing that American football in Brazil needs to grow with purpose. When the sport reaches the grassroots, the community and education, it leaves a real legacy”, he stated.
College Football no Brasil
In 2026, the country will host, for the first time, an official College Football game. The match is scheduled for August 29, at the Nilton Santos Stadium, in Rio de Janeiro, with the confrontation between Virginia Cavaliers e NC State Wolfpack.
The organizers expect an audience of over 44 thousand fans.
