PSG Injury News: Key Player Ruled Out

Paris Saint-Germain will have to do without Matvey Safonov for at least “3 to 4 weeks”. The Russian goalkeeper suffers from a broken left hand, the French club announced on Friday.

Safonov, 26, was PSG’s hero on Wednesday in the Intercontinental Cup final against Brazilians Flamengo. The Russian stopped four of five opposing attempts during the penalty shootout.

The goalkeeper arrived in Paris during the summer of 2024 from the Russian club Krasnodar. Since his arrival, he has played 21 matches for the European champions and was started in recent weeks by Luis Enrique following the injury to French international Lucas Chevalier.
