The Potsdam Royals have been voted Brandenburg’s Team of the Year. The American footballers, who won the German championship for the third time in a row this year, prevailed ahead of the canoe duo from KC Potsdam, Jacob Schopf and Max Lemke, as well as the German judo team champion UJKC Potsdam.
The election was carried out among Brandenburg’s sports journalists. “This is of course a nice and great recognition for the performance of the team and the club as a whole. This is also a confirmation for our entire sport,” said Royals coach Michael Vogt in a statement from the Brandenburg State Sports Association.
It had previously been announced that women’s bobsleigh pusher Deborah Levi from SC Potsdam was the athlete of the year. Para-swimmer Josia Topf won among the men. The athletes will be honored at the “2026 Annual Reception of the Brandenburg Sports State” on January 16, 2026 in the “Haus des Sports” in Potsdam.
