Track and field athletes in the U18/U20 age groups gathered in the OC “Ventspils” athletics arena to compete for Christmas cups in five disciplines – 60m run, 60m hurdles, 800m run, long jump and high jump.
About 100 young track and field athletes from sports schools in Liepaja, Talsa, Kuldiga, Tukums, Kandava, Saldus, Ventspils region, as well as athletes from sports school “Spars” took part in the competition.
The best results of our athletes – two first places in the U20 age group were won by Brenda Jillian Apsite (60m/b, high jump, coach Andris Kronbergs).
Eduards Strelkovs (U20 60m/b, coach Andris Kronbergs), Gustavs Ralfs Ofkants (U18 long jump, coach Artis Šulcs), Gustavs Ķeniņš (U20 high jump, coach Marita Lesiņa) also took the top podium.
Silver medalist – Kristaps Bergmanis in two disciplines (60m, long jump, coach Andris Kronbergs).
Bronze medals were won by Mikus Irbe (U20 60m, coach Juris Petrovičs), Marta Frēliha (U20 60m, coach Andris Kronbergs), Markus Suščenko (U18 long jump, coach Marita Lesiņa), Emīlija SpruĽevica (U20 high jump, coach Juris Petrovičs), Eduards Strelkovs (U20 long jump, coach Andris Kronberg).
