NBA & Daddy Yankee Launch Basketball School in Puerto Rico

The NBA inaugurated its first Basketball School in Puerto Rico this Monday in San Juana project aimed at the sports and training development of children and young people between 6 and 18 yearswith the support of Municipality of San Juan, Multinational Insurance Company and the artist Daddy Yankee.

The inaugural clinic was held at San Juan University Collegeofficial headquarters of the program, and marked the beginning of the alliance that will allow the first NBA Basketball School on the Island. The project seeks to strengthen sports skills and promote values ​​such as discipline, teamwork and leadership.

The initiative was possible thanks to the Municipality of San Juan, Multinational Insurance Company and the artist Daddy Yankee

During the event, Dawn Smithvice president and director of International Youth Development of the NBA, highlighted the importance of Puerto Rico within the basketball culture and assured that this launch is only the beginning of an expansion plan in the country.

For its part, Daddy Yankee shared an inspiring message with the participants and their families, highlighting sport as a comprehensive training tool and celebrating that a personal dream has become an opportunity for thousands of young Puerto Ricans.

The program began with youth clinics on December 15 and will become an annual scheme from 2026with access to international NBA development activities and programs.
