The NFL’s Miami Dolphins made a quarterback swap shortly before the end of the regular season and put Tua Tagovailoa on the bench.
As American media unanimously report, rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers will take over for the 27-year-old in the home game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The Dolphins no longer have a chance of making the playoffs.
The criticism of Tagovailoa had recently increased; head coach Mike McDaniel had counted the playmaker after the disappointing 15:28 defeat at the Pittsburgh Steelers. “I think the quarterback play last night wasn’t good enough, and that’s all on the table for me,” McDaniel said.
NFL: Tagovailoa throws the most interceptions
Three games before the end of the season, the team from Florida has a record of six wins and eight defeats. Tagovailoa leads the league with 15 interceptions in 14 games. The Dolphins selected Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 draft.
