The World Baseball Classic (WBC) is arguably the premier domestic competitive baseball event in the world and a celebration that captures the attention of baseball fans worldwide. In South Korea, the enthusiasm of fans hoping for the international return of Korean baseball is strong, supported by the continued popularity of the KBO league. The ‘2026 World Baseball Classic’ will take place in Japan, the United States and Puerto Rico from March 5 to 17 next year, and the South Korean national team is expected to shape a new generation of players and show their fighting spirit.
The previously announced list of participants in the first camp includes seasoned veterans such as Ryu Hyun-jin and Noh Kyung-eun, as well as promising talents of the 2000s such as Ahn Hyun-min, Kim Do-young, Moon Dong-joo and Jung Woo-joo, who have attracted great interest from baseball fans. This national team, which features a new combination, will play in friendly matches on March 2nd next year against the Hanshin Tigers and on March 3rd against the Orix Buffaloes to check the final preparation for the tournament.
