Leipzig/hen – RB Leipzig is running out of players at the end of the year. Eleven professionals were not available to coach Ole Werner after the 3-1 defeat against Union Berlin last Friday. Including the two African Cup drivers Yan Diomande and Amadou Haidara.
RB against Bayer: last duel of the year
Now the next failure may be on the horizon. RB defense chief Willi Orban only trained individually on Tuesday. It was said that the 33-year-old had muscular problems. His appearance against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday is therefore open. The duel is the last competitive game of the calendar year.
Lukas Klostermann could replace him, but he made a shaky impression in his first starting appearance this season at right-back in the DFB Cup game against Magdeburg and was substituted at half-time. Ole Werner later regretted not having protected Klostermann from this mission.
Henrichs back in team training
The RB coach may also be able to integrate two currently injured players into his matchday squad. Ridle Baku, injured in the syndesmotic ligament, only trained individually, but is said to be a possible comeback candidate. And striker Romulo, out of action for a month due to tendon irritation, trained fully, as did defender El-Chadaille Bitshiabu.
There was also good news from Benjamin Henrichs. The 28-year-old returned to team training on Tuesday after a year-long injury break. It was his first practice session with the team after tearing his Achilles tendon on December 21 last year in the game against FC Bayern.
Captain David Raum later said: “This is a very nice day for us. Benny has come a long way, he is very important for the team – on and off the pitch.
