The Chiefs lost to the Los Angeles Chargers 13:16 in their home stadium and suffered their eighth defeat in the 14th game of the current season. Because the Houston Texans won their game against the Arizona Cardinals, the Chiefs no longer have a chance of participating in the playoffs – and of their third Super Bowl victory within four years.
Mahomes monatelang out
To make matters worse, Pat Mahomes injured his left knee in the final stages. The two-time MVP was taken to the treatment tent and was unable to continue playing. In the evening they had the bitter truth with the Chiefs: quarterback Mahomes has torn his cruciate ligament and will have to take a break for months.
The Chiefs said surgery is being considered. It remains to be seen whether Mahomes will be fit to play again at the start of the coming season in October after the most serious injury of his career. In any case, the unlucky person wrote: “I will come back stronger.”
