Fluminense beat Vasco 1-0, in a game valid for the return of the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil, this Sunday (14/12), at Maracanã, and tied the aggregate score at 2-2. Tricolor’s goal was scored by Paulo Henrique, against. On penalties, the opponent won 4-3.
FIRST HALF
In a nervous start to the game, Fluminense bet on throws to attack in depth with the second ball. Tricolor’s first chance came in the seventh minute, when Renê crossed from the left and Everaldo headed the ball past the goalkeeper.
From the 20th minute onwards, Fluminense had more possession of the ball and managed to attack more frequently. At 28, Canobbio received deep from Samuel Xavier, tried to pass to the middle of the area, but the goalkeeper cut it.
At 35, tricolor superiority was rewarded. Canobbio crossed, Everaldo slipped and the ball hit the post. On the rebound, Paulo Henrique, from Vasco, sent it into the goal.
SECOND HALF
Fluminense remained superior after the break, trying to occupy the attacking field in search of scoring opportunities. After three minutes, Lucho Acosta recovered the ball inside the area, but didn’t shoot well and the goalkeeper made the save.
At 21, Kevin Serna made a good move on the left and passed it to John Kennedy, who shot wide. Four minutes later, Facundo Bernal received the ball at the edge of the area and sent a low shot past the goalkeeper.
Tricolor continued to dominate the actions of the match, attacking, but without creating any dangerous chances. Close to the final whistle, Fluminense had a great chance in the 48th minute, when Guga crossed and the ball fell to John Kennedy, who shot wide.
PENALTY
With the aggregate score tied, the decision went to penalties and the opponent won 4-3.
