The lists are down and so are the suitcases. In January, fifty Ligue 1 players will head to Morocco to compete in CAN 2025, leaving behind clubs that are sometimes already fragile.
The winter break limits the damage a little, with the championship stopping on December 15 and resuming on January 2. But some dates are stuck. The 32nd finals of the Coupe de France, the 17th and 18th days of Ligue 1, and even the Champions Trophy for OM and PSG could be directly impacted. According to the official lists, Paris FC and Lorient are the most exposed with five absentees each, a real hole in the squad when the calendar gets carried away. Nice, Lille, Metz and Angers will lose four players, sometimes executives, sometimes more discreet but useful pieces in the rotation.
Very unequal absences depending on the clubs
At the other end of the table, Lens and Toulouse will only see one player leave each. PSG and OM will have to compose without two elements, Hakimi and Mbaye for Paris, Aguerd and Aubameyang on the Marseille side. Depending on the course of the selections, the impact could last a few weeks… or drag on, a little sneakily, into the heart of winter.
