Biathlon Relay: Norway Wins, France Takes Third

Fabien Claude, Émilien Jacquelin, Quentin Fillon Maillet and Éric Perrot take a new podium. This Sunday, under the sun in Hochfilzen, Austria, the Blues finished second in the men’s relay. They achieved the same result as during the first round of the World Cup in Östersund, Sweden.

The French are once again dominated by the Norwegians. The difference came from the lying shot of the third torchbearer. Sturla Laegreid takes a few steps ahead of Quentin Fillon Maillet before arriving on the shooting range.

A new duel between Norway and France

The Norwegian achieves a flawless performance while the Frenchman has to shoot a draw ball. Overtaken on the skis, the 33-year-old biathlete passed the baton to Éric Perrot 48 seconds behind.

Despite the three faults on the standing, the speed of the 24-year-old Frenchman’s shots allowed the Blues to secure second place in the men’s relay. He finished 43 seconds behind Vetle Christiansen. Sebastian Samuelsson’s Sweden finished third. After sixth place in the women’s relay, Les Bleues will have to raise their heads this Sunday afternoon during the women’s pursuit scheduled from 2:45 p.m.
