The courts of the Erick Bernabé Barrondo García Park Sports Center were the scene of the second day of competitions of the VII International Basketball Club Championship, organized by Asodedis Vida, an event that brings together teams from different countries and promotes inclusion, high performance and integration through sport.
The Titanes de México and Sliders de Colombia teams were the first to secure their qualification for the semifinals, finishing in first place in their respective groups. Throughout the day, all clubs showed passion, determination and courage, with outstanding defensive actions, timely blocks and decisive baskets.
In the phase of play inwhich allowed the rivals of the semifinalists to be defined, Transitions of Guatemala faced Thunders of Honduras, as well as Asodedis Vida against Securtec of Costa Rica. In both matches, the Guatemalan teams managed to win with scores of 52-35 and 18-40, ensuring their continuity in the championship and the support of the public present.
In the women’s branch, the competition continued with the addition of points to define the final positions. It will be this Sunday when Asodedis Vida from Guatemala will once again face Fénix from Mexico, a duel that will define the champions and runners-up of the tournament. For its part, the Costa Rican team finished in third position, after playing three matches during the day.
For Ángela Ochoa, a member of Asodedis Vida, representing Guatemala in this championship is a source of pride. “It is an honor for me to participate; this is my seventh championship and I am very happy for the large influx of participants. I invite the population to support us, either in the tournament or in our training sessions, which take place every Sunday here at the Erick Barrondo (Park),” he expressed.
Ochoa also highlighted the importance of sport for people with disabilities, since it contributes to maintaining a healthy life, strengthens social integration and allows us to overcome personal limits, generating well-being and new opportunities.
