Eintracht Frankfurt – FC Augsburg 1:0 (0:0)
Eintracht won the game between Frankfurt and Augsburg 1-0. This meant that the Frankfurters were able to end their recent series of defeats.
The video assistant was used in the first few minutes after a shot on goal by Augsburg’s Chrislain Matsima (3rd minute) had to be checked. The referees decided that the goal did not count due to an offside position. The first half was uneventful, with both teams creating few clear opportunities.
The first valid goal of the encounter came in the 68th minute: Ritsu Dōan scored to make it 1-0 for Frankfurt. A goal by Augsburg in the 87th minute did not count according to the VAR check.
Borussia Mönchengladbach – VfL Wolfsburg 1:3 (1:3)
Borussia Mönchengladbach lost 1:3 against VfL Wolfsburg. Patrick Wimmer scored for Wolfsburg to make it 1-0 in the fourth minute. In the 22nd minute, Konstantinos Koulierakis scored the second goal – only in the wrong goal, so an equalizer for Borussia.
But in the 30th minute the guests took the lead again: Mohammed Amoura made it 2-1, and just a few minutes later Wimmer increased it to 3-1 (34th).
Despite the defeat, Gladbach made history: In the 57th minute, Gladbach’s coach Eugen Polanski substituted the 16-year-old Wael Mohya. He is the youngest player that Borussia has used in its Bundesliga history.
FC St. Pauli – 1. FC Heidenheim 2:1 (1:0)
FC St. Pauli won 2-1 against 1. FC Heidenheim. In the stadium at Millerntor, the hosts from Hamburg were able to take the lead in the 35th minute through Martijn Kaars. Despite the goal, the team from St. Pauli went into the break with a setback: Eric Smith was shown a red card in stoppage time (45th+1) because of an emergency stop.
Despite being outnumbered, Kaars scored in the second half to make it 2-0 (53rd), before Marvin Pieringer made it 1-2 for Heidenheim in the 64th minute.
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim – Hamburger SV 4:1 (2:0)
The hosts won the last home game of the year for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim 4-1 against HSV. Grischa Prömel headed the ball into the goal for Hoffenheim in the eighth minute, followed by Ozan Kabak’s goal to make it 2-0 in the 31st minute.
On the way to Hoffenheim’s fourth home win in a row, Tim Lemperle made it 3-0 in the 65th minute. Fisnik Asllani increased the score to 4-0 seven minutes later. In the 82nd minute, Hamburg’s Rayan Philippe scored at least one goal for the guests.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen – 1. FC Cologne 2:0 (0:0)
The hosts won the derby between Leverkusen and Cologne 2-0. The first half was goalless, even though Bayer 04 Leverkusen was able to show more possession and offensive actions.
In the 66th minute, Leverkusen took the lead thanks to Martin Terrier’s goal. That seemed to be the end of the knot. Just a few minutes later (72nd), Robert Andrich increased the lead with a header.
