2025 SEA Games Badminton: Malaysia Upsets Leo/Bagas in Doubles

Indonesian men’s doubles Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana lost in two straight games 10-21, 12-21 to Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik (Malaysia), so they were eliminated in the badminton semifinals SEA Games 2025.

In the top four match at Thamasat Rangsit Gymnasium, Saturday (13/12/2025), Aaron/Soh, who were the first seeds, immediately tried to push forward from the start of the first game. Leo/Bagas were 3-11 behind at the interval.

After the interval, Leo/Bagas, who are the fourth seeds in men’s doubles at the 2025 SEA Games, tried to keep up but their opponents continued to advance. The Indonesian men’s doubles lost 10-21 in the first game.

Entering the second game, the battle for initial points was quite tough. But the Malaysian pair were still able to lead 11-6 at the interval.

Leo/Bagas continued to try to catch up with Aaron/Soh’s points after the interval. But Leo/Bagas’ efforts did not achieve the desired results. The Malaysian doubles finished the game in 33 minutes after winning 21-12.

Before this match there had been three matches involving Indonesian representatives. Only Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari confirmed their ticket to the 2025 SEA Games badminton final.

Looking at the schedule, Indonesia still has a number of representatives remaining to play in the badminton semifinals SEA Games 2025 today. Namely Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, Alwi Farhan, Putri Kusuma Wardani, and Moh. Zaki Ubaidillah.
