President of the Ethics and Discipline Committee of the CorinthiansLeonardo Pantaleão filed, with the Deliberative Council, a suggestion to leave immediate of the former president Andres Sanchez in light of the decisions handed down by the São Paulo Court last Thursday.
A Justice rejectedon Thursday, part of the complaint made by the Public Ministry of São Paulo against Andrés Sanchez. The former president was accused of continued aggravated embezzlement, money laundering and false tax documents, crimes related to irregular spending on the club’s corporate cards between 2018 and 2020. The last two charges were not accepted by the judge responsible for the case.
Andrés Sanchez, it is worth remembering, is already removed from the Deliberative Council and the Guidance Council (CORI) of Corinthians. However, the former director himself had requested his removal, after advice from Romeu Tuma Júnior, a decision that guarantees him sufficient autonomy to resume his duties whenever he sees fit.
Pantaleon’s office has an opinionated character. This is just a suggestion sent to the president of the CD, Romeu Tuma Júnior, and to the other members of the club’s Ethics and Justice Committees. Pantaleão defends that Andrés Sanchez be removed until all investigations against him, both internal and external, are duly concluded.

In the document, to which the Sports Gazette had access, Pantaleão relies on a precautionary measure to define the future of the former president. The CD deputy considers Andrés Sanchez’s voluntary request for removal to be insufficient, precisely because it gives him the freedom to reverse the decision at any time, without approval or approval from the Deliberative Council.
“This characteristic reveals the insufficiency of this measure to ensure stability, predictability and institutional security, especially given the objective gravity of the facts and the existence of judicial precautionary measures that directly impact the SCCP environment”, says an excerpt from the letter.
Pantaleão, therefore, suggested that Romeu Tuma Júnior convene “with the urgency that the case requires” a plenary session of the Deliberative Council, aimed at deliberating on the proposal to remove Andrés Sanchez from his duties at the club by the CD.
“This statement, it is reiterated, does not anticipate a judgment of guilt, but aims to safeguard the coherence, credibility and institutional authority of the Deliberative Council of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, ensuring that facts of objective gravity are faced with responsibility, transparency and respect for the institution’s greatest interests”, concluded the lawyer in the document.
A Sports Gazette He tried to contact Leonardo Pantaleão, but did not receive a response until the publication of this article. If the vice-president of the CD speaks out, the report will be updated.
Understand the case
Last Thursday, the judge of the 2nd Court of Tax Crimes, Criminal Organization and Laundering of Assets and Valuables of the Capital, Marcia Mayumi Okoda Oshira, rejected the charges of money laundering and false tax documents against Andrés Sanchez and Roberto Gavioli, financial manager removed from Corinthians.
The judge claimed that the MP’s complaint did not cover such cases, but highlighted that the misappropriation action must continue to be investigated. However, this action must be referred to a common criminal court.
Despite rejecting part of the accusations, the judge determined some measures that Andrés Sanchez and Roberto Gavioli must comply with to continue the investigation. If the dismissed manager and the former president do not respect the decision, they may be arrested preventively.
- Prohibition of contact with witnesses and Corinthians leaders;
- Prohibition on leaving the country without judicial authorization;
- Blocking of Andrés Sanchez and Roberto Gavioli’s assets up to the limit of R$480,169.69 — referring to the amount classified as “irregular expenditure” by the MP, after interest and monetary correction.
Remember the case
On October 15, 2025, the São Paulo Public Ministry indicted Andrés Sanchez and Roberto Gavioli for crimes relating to to irregular spending on Corinthians corporate cards between August 2018 and December 2020.
Due to interest and monetary correction, the MP-SP charges compensation of more than R$480 thousand. In addition, it also demands payment of R$360,000 (75% of the total value) from each person, for moral and material damages to Corinthians.
It is worth remembering that the Public Ministry is not only investigating Andrés Sanchez’s mandate, but possible irregularities in Corinthians’ other two last presidential terms, that of Duílio Monteiro Alves and Augusto Melo.
