2025 Football: Historic Achievements & Predictions

The year 2025, which is approaching its end, will remain dear to the hearts of several clubs around the world because it gave them achievements that they had not achieved throughout their long history.

In 2025, many teams succeeded in ending curses with championships that they dreamed of achieving through long years of spending and contracts, but luck did not smile at them until this year.

In light of the “Harvest 2025” series, Al Ain Sports sheds light on a group of rare achievements achieved by several clubs this year.

Paris Saint-Germain

French Paris Saint-Germain ended its curse with the Champions League when it achieved the double-eared cup title in the 2025 edition with a 5-0 victory over Italian Inter Milan in the final.

Before that, Paris Saint-Germain tried to achieve this achievement and included a group of the most prominent stars, such as the Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Argentine Lionel Messi, the Brazilian Neymar da Silva, and Kylian Mbappe.

But what is strange is that the title that was achieved on May 31 came after the departure of all these stars, while the team’s greatest achievement before that was losing the final of the 2020 edition against German Bayern Munich.

In its achievement, PSG relied on a Spanish coach, Luis Enrique, who won the cup with Barcelona 10 years ago, and a group of stars, most notably Ousmane Dembélé, Moroccan Achraf Hakimi, the Portuguese Vitina and Nuno Mendes, and the Georgian Khvchia Kvaratskhelia.

Al-Ahly Saudi

Al-Ahly Saudi Club joined the list of Saudi and Arab clubs that won the AFC Champions League title in the first edition bearing its name “Elite”.

On its way to the coronation, Al-Ahly succeeded in overthrowing its compatriot Al-Hilal with a 3-1 victory through Brazilian Roberto Firmino, Englishman Ivan Toney, and Firas Al-Braikan.

The coronation came on May 3 with a clean double over the Japanese Kawasaki Frontale, scored by the Brazilian Galeino and the Ivorian Franck Kessie.

This became the first Asian title for Al-Ahly, joining its compatriot Al-Hilal, winner of 4 crowns, and Al-Ittihad, champion of the 2004 and 2005 editions.

Also in Asia, Sharjah, the UAE, was able to write an exceptional history on the Yellow Continent.

Sharjah was able to achieve the first Asian title in its history, when it won the AFC Champions League 2, after defeating the Lion City Sailors of Singapore in the final 2-1.

Egyptian Pyramids

Pyramids has become the fourth club from Egypt to win the African Champions League, after Al-Ahly (12), Zamalek (5), and Al-Ismaily, which won the first Egyptian and Arab championship title in 1970.

In its journey to ascend to the champions’ podium, Pyramids beat Orlando Pirates of South Africa 3-2 in the semi-final and then eliminated the latter’s compatriot, Sun Downs, with the same score in the final, in which the return match was held on June 1, 2025, the day after Paris Saint-Germain was crowned European champion.
