With Bolivia and Mexico occupying the largest number of places, the XXXVI Junior Racquetball World Cup, Santo Domingo 2025, has defined its finalists in several categories of the contest that concludes this Saturday, December 13 with some 300 representatives from 15 nations. Its inauguration was on Friday the 5th.
Until midday on Thursday, semifinals had been played in the U10, U12 and U14 divisions, both in the women’s and men’s branches. Up to under 21 years of age is competed under the organization of the World Federation and the Dominican Racquetball Federation, chaired by Rafael Fernández.
In men’s U10 years, Daniel Rodríguez, from Mexico, achieved his safe passage to the final due to his victory with a score of 11-8, 11.9, 3-11, 3-11 and 11-9 over Benjamín Lino Daza, from Bolivia.
Another Mexican, Damián García Castro, will be Rodríguez’s rival for dominating fellow Bolivian Julio Paul Camacho in the semifinals by 11-8, 11-2 and 11-4 points.
In less than 10 years as girls, the Bolivian Briana Ampuero got a ticket to the final by emerging victorious against the Mexican Jocelyn Domínguez Chávez with a comeback 8-11, 11-6, 11-3 and 11-5.
Bolivia and Costa Rica will settle the U14 women’s final. The South American Valentina Villarroel Garzón had to play the five sets against her countryman from the Altiplano Adriana Bazán. He won 11-5, 11-8, 9-11, 4-11, 11-3.
The Costa Rican Larissa Faeth only had to battle the regulation sets of her match, but extremely close ones, with the Mexican Michelle Gómez, whom she beat 11-9, 12-10 and 11-9.
In 12 years of boys, the Bolivian Santiago Cruz Arteaga and the Mexican Max Soto will play the final of the category.
The one from the south of America dispatched the Aztec country’s Hermann García in four chapters (11-8, 11-9, 6-11 and 11-6). Soto accounted for one more Bolivian, Víctor Arandia, 11-5, 11-7 and 119.
The U12 girls finalists will be two from Bolivia: Mary Hinojosa García and Sofía Rocabado, who got rid of two of their compatriots in five and four sets, respectively.
Hinojosa García beat Kenia Condori Garabito 11-4, 11-6, 9-11, 9-11 and 11-4. Rocabado did the same against Fernanda Vargas Vidal with scores 13-11, 11-4, 14-16 and 12-10.
The competition continues this Friday from 9:00 in the morning until late at night and will close on Saturday in the racquetball building of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, in the National District, center of the Dominican Capital.
