The investigation into football betting and match-fixing carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office continues to expand. It was claimed that an investigation was launched against Galatasaray national football players Abdülkerim Bardakçı and Barış Alper Yılmaz within the scope of the investigation in which 20 people, including famous football players and club managers, were arrested.
PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE DENIED
Allegedly, the prosecutor’s office included Bardakçı and Yılmaz under investigation after examining the phone of the arrested football player Metehan Baltacı. The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced in the information it provided in the morning that the allegations did not reflect the truth.
20 PEOPLE WERE ARRESTED
Last week, 39 suspects were detained in the football betting investigation, which was expanded after the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced the names involved in illegal betting.
A judicial control decision was issued for 19 suspects, including referee Zorbay Küçük, and 20 suspects, including football players Metehan Baltacı, Alassane Ndao, Mert Hakan Yandaş and former Adana Demirspor President Murat Sancak, were arrested.
