On the eve of the reunion with Xabi Alonso for a scorching Real Madrid-Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, coach of the English team, left journalists perplexed with the way he left advice to the coach of the Meringues: «Let him piss with his and I’ll piss with mine. And since you won’t be pissing cologne, everything will be fine.”
The tirade marked a press conference in which a free Guardiola admitted that «Barcelona and Real Madrid are difficult to coach due to pressure, because everything revolves around winning games», and explained the differences between English and Spanish football: «There (England) you don’t see journalists in the dressing room. That’s the difference.”
Guardiola meets Xabi Alonso, who trained at Bayern Munich, for one of the night’s Champions League games. “I wish him the best, but his future is an unknown for me,” said the City coach, when asked about the possibility of Real changing coaches if they don’t achieve a good result this Wednesday.
Real Madrid hosts Manchester City, starting at 8pm, for the sixth round of the regular phase of the Champions League. The Spanish remain in sixth place in the league table with 12 points, two more than the English, who occupy 12th place.
